A simple rule for the purchase of PA speaker cable: The speaker cable should be as short as possible and as thick as possible! Here is an exemplary calculation: 1,000 watts of power from a PA amplifier with 20 m cable length and a diameter of 0.75 mm ² to an 8 ohm speaker, only 895 watts will arrive at the speaker. However, with the cable cross-section of 4 mm ² the loss is reduced to just 2%, so from the original 1,000 watts still 980 watts gets to the speaker. Common connectors are Speakon and jack.
